The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn Chpt.1-7

The book starts off telling about how Tow Sawyer and Huck found money in the cave and got $6,000 a piece. And how the widow Douglas tool Huck in as her son. Huck couldn't stand it no longer living with the widow so he left, but Tom Sawyer told him if he'd go back he could be in his band of robbers, so he did. When they have the first meeting of the band they make up rule and all have to sign them in blood. The way it explains the rules the boys sound like they are eighteen or older, but when Tom is using his imagination and pretending to rob people and steel diamonds I could see they are kind of young. Soon Huck resigned from the band and so did everyone else. The book then starts talking about how he is in school. Huck says he's learned his multiplication up until seven times six is thirty five and that's probably all he will learn. Then it tells about his dad, Pap. People have tried to tell Huck that his dad is dead, but he doesn't believe them. Huck goes to the Judge Thatcher and tells him he can have all of his money, the $6,000 and the money he got in the mail. When Huck returns to his room that night he finds Pap waiting on him. He cusses him for going to school and knowing more than him. Pap told him to give him any money he had. Huck tried to explain that he had no money only the dollar in his pocket. When the Widow found out she tried the get custody of Huck, but the new judge in town didn't know Pap and wanted to keep the family together. Pap was quite angry about that and to Huck out to the cabin that was up the river, and pretty much held him hostage. Finally Huck couldn't stand it any longer and made an escape. He couldn't just go threw the door because his crazy drunk dad slept with the key under his head. So he had to make the perfect escape. Huck used a saw and cut a log that was covered with a blanket and crawled out when his dad left. Huck knew he couldn't just leave or people would look for him so he made it look like he was killed. I think Huck is very smart for thinking of this. I would have never thought of it. But he took a canoe and began floating down stream.
So far I like this book a lot! I like the fact that Huck doesn't want to be told what to do, he is like rebelling and doing what he wants. I kind of thought it was funny in the beginning when Tom Sawyer was pretending all of robbing stuff. I think this book is easy to relate to, like when your a kid and you run away from home. I'm excited to see what is going to happen next with Huck. Is somebody going to look for him? Will Pap ever find him? If so, is he going to kill him for running away? What happens to Tom Sawyer?

a separate peace 10- end

This book was confusing for me to read. It had a slow start and for me it never got any better. The only part I did like about the book was Finny! He was so spontaneous yet, relaxed and carefree. I kinda laughed when he started the snow fight,it was unexpected for me. Finnys death was even more unexpected for me which made it even more tragic. I would have never guessed he would have gotten a blood clot. I already didn't like Gene and it kind of made me mad when he didn't cry at what used to be his best friends funeral. Gene is just not the person I would want to friends with especially if I was Leper. Leper asked him to come up there and Gene knew people already thought he was crazy. And when Leper said one thing to offend him, Gene would even listen to him. He said he didn't care. That's not what a friend would do. Yeah I can understand getting mad but not as mad as Gene did. In the end this book was still hard for me to get into. It had its ups and downs, but for me it had more downs then ups. It was good to read but I doubt I ever read it again just for pleasure.
