Chapters 21-43
This starts off as them doing all the plays. They are going from town to town performing, they have earned $465. Then they come across Peter Wilks. Peter takes them to meet the Wilks family. Then Peter and his siblings get inheritance from his dads death. Huck steals the money and hides it in the coffin and the coffin get barred. Huck begins to freak out because he barred $6,000 and has just realized he can't get it back so he runs away. Then, he begins to get questioned about the money and tries to run again and finds Jim missing from the boat. A young boy describes the man that turned him in and it was the duke. A man named Silas offered him $200 to capture Jim in New Orleans. Silas actually turned out to be Tom sawyers uncle. What a coincidence! Then Huck decides to write Tom Sawyer to tell Miss Watson where Jim is, but he realized she would sell him away. now he is ashamed that he ever helped a nigger. He is kind of beating himself up over it, and he thinks its punishment from God for his sins. So he goes to Silas's house to find Jim, and they are sure Huck is their nephew. Huck escapes to the dock to inform Tom of what is going on and to tell him to come. When Tom arrives He makes a mast plan to break Jim out. but, then they decide the plan was useless because there was a mob. So then, Huck comes up with another plan, but it involved some of Toms aunt sally's things. They use them to dig to Jim. Jim goes along with the crazy plan, of course! They tell Jim's watcher that witches are haunting him and the only way to get rid of them is to give Jim a 'witch pie.' So of course he does, everyone believes Huck! Finally after long hard work he gets him the 'witch pie.' Then Silas and Sally receive a letter from an unknown friend saying some gangsters were going to steal Jim. So they send Huck and Tom to bed early and prepare for the thieves. There were armed gun men who attacked the shed but they escaped out the hole in the wall. But Tom makes a noise and the men begin to shoot. They make it to the the canoe but Tom got shot in the leg. Jim being the hero he is risks his freedom to help Tom get to a doctor. Unfortunately when they get to the doctor the local men want to hang him. But they can't do anything till his master gets there. Tom and Huck try to explain that Tom wouldn't be alive if Jim wouldn't have gotten him to the doctor. So Silas and Sally decide to let Jim go! Tom pays Jim $40 for his troubles, and Tom now wheres the bullet in a watch guard around his neck. The ending for me was kind of predictable about Jim getting set free, but it still kept me guessing. This book was slow in some parts for me, yet it still was very good!
