the piano lesson
I actually enjoyed this book. When I was told that is was like an African American voice I didn't think I would like it, but that was my favorite thing. The voice it had was kind of something fun and different to read. The story line was sort of cheesy, but I completely agree with trying to reach the American dream. I want to have a nice house and money. But I'm not sure I would go as far as to selling something that is special to my family. I think Bernitha wanted to keep the piano for the right reasons ,but she didn't want to believe that Sutters ghost was there because of the piano. Boy Willy was being selfish because he just wanted money, even thou he knew Sutters ghost would leave too. I believe Bernitha knew she would be better off with Avery, she just wasn't over Crawlys death. And it kind of caught me off guard when Lymon kissed Bernitha. I also think she knows Crawly would still be alive if he had not taken the gun, but for her i think its easier to blame someone else for his death. I think the ending just left us hanging as to whatever happen. Did Lymon stay and get a job? Did Bernitha marry Avery? Does Boy Willy go back down south? I wasn't impressed with the ending ,but over all it was a fun book to read.

I think the ending would be better, more dramatic, if we had seen it being performed.
