a separate peace 10- end
This book was confusing for me to read. It had a slow start and for me it never got any better. The only part I did like about the book was Finny! He was so spontaneous yet, relaxed and carefree. I kinda laughed when he started the snow fight,it was unexpected for me. Finnys death was even more unexpected for me which made it even more tragic. I would have never guessed he would have gotten a blood clot. I already didn't like Gene and it kind of made me mad when he didn't cry at what used to be his best friends funeral. Gene is just not the person I would want to friends with especially if I was Leper. Leper asked him to come up there and Gene knew people already thought he was crazy. And when Leper said one thing to offend him, Gene would even listen to him. He said he didn't care. That's not what a friend would do. Yeah I can understand getting mad but not as mad as Gene did. In the end this book was still hard for me to get into. It had its ups and downs, but for me it had more downs then ups. It was good to read but I doubt I ever read it again just for pleasure.

Gene doesn't want to listen to Leper because he knows he will soon be drafted and be forced to face the attrocities of war. He wants to maintain his "separate peace" while he can.
ReplyDeleteIt was hard for me to read too. I got confused in a lot of the book, but i have to say i did like the very end even though it made me sad.:(
ReplyDeleteI think that the way Finny died was weird. It wasn't really a blood clot, it was bone marrow from his second broken leg getting into his blood and going into his heart. That was like so random to me.
