chapters 7-9

I think these chapters were kind of better than the others. They still didn't change my mind about Gene, but now there is another character that I don't like, Brinker. He really bugs me because I think Gene already is feeling guilty about Finny, and he is making it worse. He accuses him of pushing him out of the tree just so he can have his own room. That is partially true, but I still don't think Brinker should be jumping to conclusions. Then, when Finny comes back I never would have guessed that Gene and him would have gotten close again, or wanted help Gene train for the Olympics. I actually didn't think Gene would do it because he's not athletic. I think he agreed because he was beginning to feel guilty again. I also think he was assisting Finny just because he felt guilty. But in chapter9 it kind of threw me for a loop when Leper decided to enlist in the army. I wasn't exactly sure why he did, but he did. And when Finny didn't want the war to seem real that was not what I expected, it was sort of out of character for him. But the carnival was spontaneous and reminded me of the things Gene and Finny did in the beginning of the story that i liked, for example going to the beach. Even though my mind didn't change about Gene I still like these chapters.

  1. Maybe Finny knows he won't be able to serve, so if he acts like the war isn't real, it won't hurt him. I hate Brinker, too. He's a real jerk!
