a seperate piece 4-6

These chapters were definitely easier for me to follow than the others. The things that happened caught my attention ,but not so much in a good way. First, when Finny is trying to get Gene to loosen up and be more carefree, I was thinking that he should just do it. But when he starts getting paranoid about Finny wanting to be better then him, like their friendship was a competition, I started getting annoyed and frustrated with Gene. The way I'm seeing it Finny is completely innocent, he just thinks they are best friends like always. I think that when he was picking with him about valedictorian ,he was really meaning it as a joke. But Gene takes it too far and makes Finny out of the tree one day. When I read this part I just wanted to quit reading. I don't think Gene meant for it to completely end Finnys future of playing sports, but it did! And that is what really makes me just about hate Gene. He was so inconsiderate of the risks he took of making him fall. When Gene finally tell Finny the reason he fell Finny insists that he wasn't the reason. I think Finny just thought they were too good of friends for him to do that and he couldn't believe it so he tries not to. If I were Finny I would hold a grudge, but that's just not how he was. I couldn't believe he wanted to help Gene with sports. I was kind of in shock. I'm kind of curious is to how this will work out in the end; their friendship and sports. I hope that Gene becomes more likable throughout the book because its hard for me to read something when I don't like a main character.

  1. I don't think Gene will become more likable. There's more unexpected turns in the story that make the book more interesting, though.
